Most operating issues are usually quite easy to troubleshoot and fix. This does include some hardware issues too yet fixing these is normally a bit more complicated.

My computer was working fine and now the screen is blank
If you have not spilt anything on the keyboard and there are clicking noises then your hard drive has failed. Please see the repair section.
I have just installed new software and now my computer is really slow
Sounds like you may need some more RAM.
I tripped over my power cable while it was plugged into the laptop and now the charger is not working
If you have another charger to test this and it works then you need a new one. If the second charger does not work then you need a new DC-In board. This can be fixed quite easily, see the repair section.
The screen on my laptop is realy dim and changing the brightness is not fixing the problem
Your backlight is failing. This is normally easy to fix. If it is your logic board then you will be experiencing other problems too.
